Mike, Dan, and Carla; The GI team
I recently got the privilege to be an interviewee on Mike Morlan's new show "Galactic Inquiry".   It was great fun and I have high hopes for the GI team and their future shows. I'll make further posts on "Beer Citizen" meetups on here when applicable. :)

If you'd like to help Mike out, he has a page on Patreon you can donate on:

In the verse you cannot plan for everything or handle every situation even if you work hard and think you have it all under control you can still run into bad luck, get sick and have it all come crashing down to the point where you do need help. This video is about how we can help each other in the verse.

Please help if you can: https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/bwj3/julee-s-liver-disease-fund

If we do future charity work like this, I plan on linking them from http://savingcitizens.com (just points to the video for now)

The End of an Era: Wingman's Hangar

So, today the last episode of Wingman's Hangar aired.   A show that, as any reader of this blog should know, I am very fond of.

I got the honor of being on set and participating in the finale with my buddy (faux enemy) Logante.  It was a blast; a truly unique experience.  The guys there filmed with mixed emotions and I wish them the best in this next chapter, whether that be with segments on the new show (Around the Verse) or, in Mike's and the crew's case, on new endeavors outside of CIG.

BTW, Mike Morlan is starting a fan show!  You can check it out here:

Here are some behind-the-scenes shots I took while on set.

Caterpillar Clarifications

A while back, I pointed out some questions I had on the Caterpillar (Caterpillar Quandaries).  I went ahead and submitted a question on some of these to Wingman's Hangar:

They clipped the last part about boarding and pretty much only answered the part about stacking modules.  Rob's answer on the show was that you could stack, but not indefinitely.  You could makes some inferences here, but he left a lot open to interpretation (thus more forum discussion of what he actually meant).

I recently got a chance to corner Rob in person ( ;] ) about getting clarity on what he meant here. While the 'modules' are meant to represent distinct sections of the ship, they are not individually configurable by the player.  There will be Caterpillar variants that will swap out functionality of the sections (likely also including the number of sections) and players will presumably be able to pay to change to these configurations, but they will all be predefined by the developers.

Also, the line in the Caterpillar description about it being the "Freelancer's evil twin" was a mistake / typo, which makes all the arguments on the forums kind of humorous in retrospect.  It is primarily a cargo ship (hence the high capacity we recently saw in the ship stats) that is extremely flexible.  We'll see where they go with the 'flexible' part.  There is some implication of piracy / boarding from the Drake angle and Ben has said in the past that he wanted salvaging to be a focus / variant.

Also, Rob likes vertically launching missiles, because they are cool.  We'll have to see what comes of that.  :)

Pirate Shanty - Pyro

The Galactic Guide for Pyro gave us the first part of a "Traditional Space Shanty" about the system:
“Yo ho ho, there’s a place I know,
The slam’s all clean and the wenches glow,
Yo ho ho, a-Ruin I’ll go,
Mark my jump off to Pyro.”

http://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13852-Galactic-Guide-Pyro

I've been asking for shanties for a while and that gave me the idea to, perhaps, flesh out the song in the community. So, here's a shot at the next couple of verses:

Burn my thrusters to and fro
Get there fast and or take it slow
Spider’s got no excitement so,
Mark my jump off to Pyro.

The Ad’s got my number yo ho ho
Gotta find somewhere to lie real low
Only one place I’d rather go,
Mark my jump off to Pyro.

Drifted a scrum out in Oso
Stole up all of his WiDoW
Where can I sell this cargo?
Mark my jump off to Pyro.

I made a forum post over at RSI to get feedback and see what verses others can come up with.  You can check out the other very cool verses people have sung over there:

And, me being me, I made a video :)
